Merlin Labron-Johnson has won me over already in January with his restaurant Portland , this time I wanted to try out his second baby. Clipstone is his more casual restaurant. Merlin said once that with Clipstone he wanted to create a place that he would enjoy visiting as a guest. A place of simple but delicious food enjoyed in a relaxed convivial atmosphere. How much is his food at Clipstone simple,  it’s on you to decide, but I can assure you that it’s super delicious! Beef rump tartare with hazelnut cream, radicchio and red currants was just overwhelming. Such incredible intensity! How could next dish ever top that? And yet – everything that continued was just perfect. This dinner was an incredible journey of intense flavours and textures composed with a beautiful sense for balance and harmony which made me expect every following dish with an excitement of a child who is waiting for his Christmas present. I love Clipstone and I am very much looking forward to returning.
