Benares. London. 24th of September 2021

Benares doesn’t have windows, yet it takes your eyes and palate to a long journey into the colourful places and flavours of India. It doesn’t have a fancy contemporary interior, but it has a heart and soul in the personality of the chef of Sameer Taneja.

The delicious lunch at the end of September at Benares. Chef Sameer Taneja took us to a wonderful journey through India. And what journey it was! The full spectrum of Indian flavours and traditions was expressed through the enhancement with French techniques Sameer learnt through his culinary path. Our journey started with his homage to Indian street vendors.

Street snacks
Italian truffle shorba
Porloc Bay Oyster and cured sea-bream chaat
Sameer’s take on samosa (my favourite dish of the meal)
Baked Malabar hand dived Scottish scallop
Crispy bread podi
Tawa masala wild halibut, clam moilee
Tandoori Muntjac, garlic yoghurt, chilli chutney
Iced sherbet
Baby poussin tikka masala
Rasmalai

Visit Benares, to fill your soul with these wonderful dishes!
