GELINAZ! are back again – this time with a new exciting adventure in the Upper Austria.
Following the acclaimed ‘restaurant swap’ in 2016 – THE GRAND GELINAZ! SHUFFLE TWO(2) & BRUSSELS HEADQUARTERS – involving 60 of the world’s most pioneering and cutting-edge chefs – GELINAZ! is back with an even more daredevil project.
GELINAZ! DOES UPPER-AUSTRIA is an itinerant and experimental culinary performance, articulated through seven varying spaces within the restaurant of legendary Austrian father & son Helmut and Philip Rachinger, of restaurant Mühltalhof at Neufelden (Mühlviertel).
Philip and Helmut will choose 3 core ‘Matrix’ dishes. Working in small teams of three and four, these dishes will be deconstructed, dismantled, cut into pieces and remixed by the 24 participating international and Austrian chefs.
Chefs will be asked to freely reinterpret every dish, being allowed to change some of the original ingredients and add seasonal produce from Upper-Austria to their new creations.
FIND YOUR WAY
Guests, in groups of 20, will follow their way through various locations in and around Mühltalhof. At every stage they will taste the remixed dishes prepared by the guest chefs.
ÜBERAUSTRIANS DO THE HANDWALK
The final space, will be known as ‘The Gathering’ – a massive artistic place of work called the HEIM.ART®-Station, just five minutes from the restaurant and run by artist Joachim Eckl who has been appointed as the art curator of the event. He will be inviting along several, like-minded international contemporary artists to create generative soundscapes interacting with the chefs.
HELL NO, YOU WON’T BE STARVING!
All in all 14 dishes will be served to 140 guests. A ticket will cost 250 Euros.
TO PARTICIPATE TO GELINAZ! DOES UPPER-AUSTRIA MEANS TO
Meet the world’s most cutting edge chefs.
Grant yourself a new dysfunctional family.
Try tomorrow’s cuisine.
Get to know 8 major contemporary artists.
Generate new soundscapes.
Get into the mood of an improvisational, itinerant, sleepless performance (did we mention already the infamous after-party?).
Blend in the trend, follow the tide.
Suck yourself in, drowning is a state of mind.
Everything merges in the night (that’s Brian Eno, not us).
IT ALL STARTS IN VIENNA!
The official opening of this 4 days Austrian discovery will happen on August 16th. All participating chefs will arrive to Vienna, stroll around the beautiful city and then meet for an exceptional get-together-dinner at famous restaurant Steirereck.
GELINAZ! is a world-wide think-tank of avant-garde chefs performing food and remixing each other’s dishes like in a DJ set giving form to culinary happenings where art, music and cuisine fusion in unexpected and improvisational ways.
It is a collective made by chefs for chefs, never repeating itself with no competition in mind and was, at core, solely created to give something back to an ever-evolving industry, adapting to unpredictable situations and charting new territory.
Today, both curators Andrea Petrini & Alexandra Swenden are, in essence, ‘agit-pop’ curators of a culinary hub that brings together artists, musicians, scientists, thinkers and producers with chefs and are renowned for constantly pushing the boundaries of their projects.
