Lima Fitzrovia, the brainchild of Virgilio Martinez, owner and executive chef of the restaurant Central in Peru (no. 4 at World’s 50 best restaurants 2016 and best restaurant in Latin America) and his partners, was one of my favourite places when I moved to London in 2013. I loved it so much that I ate there practically once a month. I fell in love with the vibrant colours and flavours of the dishes which worked for me also as a substitute for sun when sky was grey. Slowly my visits became less regular – the choice in London is wide and varied, so I moved on exploring new places and new flavours. Last week I returned for a quick lunch. Dishes by Robert Ortiz, the head chef of Lima Fitzrovia, are still as sunny and flavoursome as they were in my memories and Lima is still one of the best value Michelin starred restaurants in London. So when the sky is grey and you need some sun, head to Lima Fitzrovia (or Lima Floral in Covent Garden) to charge yourself with the vibrancy of colours and flavours. Lima, without any doubt, remains the best Peruvian restaurant in London.
