Alarming: Earth Overshoot day 2016 reached today

Till today, 8th August 2016, we have used as much from nature as our planet can renew in the whole year.

We use more ecological resources and services than nature can regenerate through overfishing, overharvesting forests and emitting more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere than forests can sequester.

In 1993, Earth overshoot day fell on 21st October 21, in 2003 it fell on 22nd September and last year on 13th August. An extremely alarming fact, since the last year in which the consumption of recourses equaled the actual availability dates back to 1970.
