After the two sold out dinners at Lyle’s has Leonardo Pereira, one of the most exciting young European chefs, returned to London for two weeks cooking at Carousel in Marylebone. The Portuguese chef who has worked with some of the world’s best chefs (between them Rene Redzepi of Noma) is in October opening his restaurant in Lisbon, but this month we were the lucky ones to be pampered with his delicious cooking. Leonardo loves vegetables – he loves their versatility and that was beautifully visible also in his cooking at Carousel which was mainly vegetarian. Only a chef of such great sensibility and mastery is able to create such intense and complex flavours, fantastic textures and beautiful presentations and I can easily say that it was one of the best meals I enjoyed in the last months. Keep an eye on Leonardo and don’t miss his next dinner wherever it may be.
