World’s 50 Best Restaurant, with support of Parmigiano Regiano, are thrilled to announce the 50 Best Restaurants Scholarship is back for 2025to identify and nurture the remarkable talent of aspiring chefs.

This initiative supports the next generation of chefs in shaping the future gastronomic landscape. If you know someone who fits this description, encourage them to unlock their potential and apply today.

What is the scholarship?

The 50 Best Restaurants Scholarship, in association with Parmigiano Reggiano, is an exciting initiative committed to support the next generation of chefs who are set to shape the future of dining.

Open to any chefs around the world over the age of 18, with less than 3 full years of experience in a professional kitchen or similar environment, this scholarship acts as a career springboard, fostering emerging culinary talent.

The participants will go through a multi-stage selection process assessing the applicants’ motivation, professionalism and creativity. The winner, announced in June at The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2025 awards ceremony in Turin, will gain the opportunity to intern at El Celler de Can Roca in Girona – two-time No.1 of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants – and SingleThread in California – No.46 in The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2024 – and learn from inspiring industry leaders, fast-tracking their career.

The Prize

Global exposure: Invited to The World’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards Ceremony in Turin, an opportunity to connect with inspiring leaders in gastronomy and showcase their talent.

Training with the world’s best: Experience hands-on mentoring at El Celler de Can Roca in Girona and SingleThread in California.

An educational experience in Italy: The three finalists of the programme will be invited to visit the birthplace of Parmigiano Reggiano in Italy and learn about its artisanal production process.

All-expenses-paid: Enjoy all flights and accommodations covered, along with £1,500 per internship.

The Process

Aspiring scholars will have to showcase their talent and share their vision in a three-stage judging process:

Round One: Applicants will be asked to introduce themselves and share their career highlights through a series of written questions and an optional, but strongly recommended, 30-second video, including what inspired them to become a chef, their culinary philosophy and their vision for the future of dining.

Deadline: 31st March 2025

Round Two: 25 shortlisted candidates will submit a second video in which they create and share their recipe of a dish using Parmigiano Reggiano. They should elaborate on their creative process and inspiration, as well as the character of the dish and its flavours.

Round Three: This final step will narrow down to five candidates, invited to interview with a judging panel composed of representatives from 50 Best and the Parmigiano Reggiano Consortium.

Three finalists will be invited to attend the ceremony of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2025 in Turin in June, where the ultimate winner will be revealed on stage.
